FAQ's
Quick answers to the questions we hear most often
We supply business customers only. All of our products are commercial-grade catering and refrigeration
equipment intended for use in a trade or business environment. By placing an order, you confirm that you
are purchasing in the course of a business and not as a consumer. We may ask for your business name,
company registration number, or VAT number before accepting an order.

Standard delivery to UK mainland addresses (England, Scotland, and Wales) is free of charge unless
stated otherwise on the product listing. Deliveries to the Scottish Highlands and Islands, Northern Ireland,
the Isle of Man, the Isle of Wight, and the Channel Islands are subject to a surcharge — please contact us
before ordering so we can confirm the cost.
Many products are available on a next-day or 2 to 3 working day basis, subject to stock. Larger, heavier,
or made-to-order items may take 5 to 10 working days or longer. Lead times are shown on each product
listing. All delivery dates are estimates and are not contractually guaranteed.
Please note: some products are held at our suppliers' European warehouses rather than in the UK. Where
an item ships from EU stock, please allow several additional working days for transit to the UK on top of
the standard lead time. If your order is affected, we will confirm the expected timescale before or shortly
after your order is accepted.
Inspect everything before you sign. Check all items are present, the packaging is intact, and there is no
visible damage — including glass, handles, and panels. If you find any damage, note it clearly on the
delivery note before signing, photograph the damage and the packaging, and email us within 24 hours.
Never sign the delivery note as 'unchecked' or 'unexamined'. A clean signature counts as acceptance that
the goods arrived in good condition, and no damage claim can be accepted after that.
Yes, but charges apply because cancelling causes us to incur real costs with our suppliers and carriers.
Before despatch: a charge of £100, or our actual costs if higher. After despatch: the greater of 30% of the
order value or our actual costs (supplier restocking, outbound delivery, collection, and a £50
administration fee), plus VAT.
Special, bespoke, made-to-order, and import-to-order products cannot be cancelled once confirmed with
the supplier. Full details are in Clause 4 of our Terms and Conditions.
No. Goods that have been unpacked, installed, connected to any power, water, or gas supply, or used in
any way cannot be cancelled or returned, and no refund can be issued. Connecting a unit to a supply
counts as use, regardless of how briefly. Returns are only possible for unused goods in their original,
undamaged packaging, with prior written authorisation.
Every product comes with a manufacturer-backed warranty. As a guide: Tefcold integral products carry 2
years parts + 1 year labour; the Blizzard range carries 3 years; Combisteel products carry 1 year parts;
and Blue Badger products carry product-specific cover confirmed at the point of sale. The exact warranty
for any product is stated on the listing and in your order confirmation.
The most common causes are: a blocked condenser (clean it monthly — this is the number one cause of
refrigeration failure); use of extension leads or multi-socket adaptors; installation that was not carried out
by a qualified professional; unauthorised repairs or non-approved spare parts; pest damage to cables;
failure to carry out required maintenance; and use of the equipment in a domestic environment or outside
its designated purpose.
Yes. Hardwired electrical equipment and any equipment requiring a dedicated circuit must be installed by
a Qualified Electrician. All gas appliances must be installed and commissioned by a Gas Safe registered
engineer — it is a criminal offence for anyone else to carry out gas work on commercial premises. Keep
written proof of the installation; it may be required for a warranty claim.
No — never. Commercial catering and refrigeration equipment must be connected to a permanent,
dedicated socket. Extension leads, cable reels, multi-socket adaptors, and socket splitters are strictly
prohibited: they create a fire risk and their use immediately and permanently voids the warranty. This
applies even to leads sold as 'heavy duty'.
Before requesting an engineer: check the condenser is not blocked with dust or grease (the most common
cause); check the unit is not next to a heat source, in direct sunlight, or in a ventilation draught; check the
temperature controller has not been adjusted; check the door seals close cleanly; and check nothing is
blocking the ventilation grilles. If an engineer attends and finds no manufacturing defect, the cost of the
callout is charged to you.
Email us at info@cedcateringequipment.co.uk with: your order number or proof of purchase, the date of
purchase and delivery, the make, model and serial number of the unit, a clear description of the fault, and
— where available — your maintenance records. We will liaise with the manufacturer or supplier and
arrange an authorised engineer where needed.
Yes. Through our supplier network we can source genuine, manufacturer-approved parts for every brand
we sell — and many we don't. Send us your unit's model and serial number and we will confirm the correct
part, price, and lead time. Many common parts are available on next-day delivery. Always confirm with us
before fitting any part — non-approved parts void your warranty.
The essentials: clean refrigeration condensers at least once a month (every two weeks in greasy
kitchens); clean ice machine water systems at least every six months; inspect door seals monthly; descale
dishwashers to suit your local water hardness; and follow the manufacturer's manual for everything else.
Keep a simple written maintenance log — it can be requested as evidence for a warranty claim.
Yes, on selected products. For example, Tefcold offers an extended plan of 2 years parts + 2 years
labour. Extended warranty must be arranged at the time of ordering or before the standard warranty
expires — ask us when placing your order.
